Retreat Theme: Living with the Saints
What does it mean to “live with the Saints” – not merely to admire them from a distance, but to encounter them as living persons in Christ?
In this retreat, we will explore the mystery of placing ourselves “in the way” of the Saints… in the way that we pray, in the way that we walk the land they walked upon, in the way we engage our various vocations, and ultimately in the way we offer ourselves minute by minute to God and the world. Hopefully we will each find an invitation to discover that Communion with the Saints is not an abstract idea but a living reality – one that opens before us the possibility of walking daily in their company.

Father David Alexander
2026 Guest Speaker
Father David Alexander is an Archpriest of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. He is a longtime student and associate of Professor Renos Papadopoulos, founder of the Centre for Trauma, Asylum & Refugees (CTAR) at the University of Essex in the United Kingdom. Fr. David completed his Ph.D. under the supervision of Professor Papadopoulos and Archimandrite Nikolai Sakharov, a member of the nearby Monastery of Saint John the Baptist at Essex. For the following nine years, Fr. David served as a fellow at CTAR, traveling throughout the world with Professor Papadopoulos and collaborating in care, research, teaching, consultation, and supervision in the field of refugee care. Fr. David’s 2025 book, Leaping Into the Hands of God: Lessons from My Teachers on Hypostatic Spiritual Care (SVS Press), presents the foundational principles he received during these years. The book is used as an assigned text in pastoral care courses at Saint Vladimir’s and Saint Tikhon’s Seminaries.

Arrival and Departure Details:
- Our retreat will begin at 6:00 PM at St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center in Contoocook, NH.
- One shuttle will depart from the Hellenic College Holy Cross campus in Brookline at 2:30 PM.
- Another shuttle will depart from Boston Logan Airport at 3:30 PM.
- The retreat will end in the Boston area at around 2:00 PM. We are not able to provide transportation to the airport on Sunday; please make plans to provide your own transportation as needed.
Please Note: If you are not able to adhere to the busing schedules listed above for departure from both the seminary campus and/or the airport, please contact us at program@crossroadinstitute.org and we can talk further to discuss alternative arrangements.
Accommodation Details:
There will be separate lodging accommodations for alumni at the St. Methodios Faith & Heritage Center. Alumni who register for cabin accommodations will stay in cabins featuring twin bunk beds. Those who register for suite-style accommodations will stay in the Retreat House. Spouses and children are welcome!
Cabin Accommodations:
Cabin arrangement with twin bunk beds and a sink. Shared bathroom.
Registration Fee: $85
Retreat House Accommodations:
These suites have 2 full-size/queen beds in every room with a private bathroom.There are two lodging options:
- Option 1: Register for a suite by yourself for $200 for the weekend
- Option 2: Register to share a suite with a fellow alum of the same gender or spouse for $100 per person. (Each person must register separately.)
Private Suite: $200
Shared Suite: $100
